The Opportunity
Healthcare workers give an extraordinary amount of themselves every day.
Long shifts, physically demanding work, and the emotional responsibility of caring for patients means that moments to pause and reset are incredibly important. Not only for staff, but also for the patients and families who spend long and often challenging hours within the hospital environment.
As part of the transition into a new hospital facility in Melbourne, the organisation established a dedicated Wellness Centre to support the health and wellbeing of their team, while also creating a calming space that could be shared with patients and their loved ones.
The goal was simple: create a space where people could take a moment to pause, breathe and regain some energy during what can often be physically and emotionally demanding days.
The Wellness Hire Solution
To support this initiative, the hospital partnered with Wellness Hire to introduce two commercial massage chairs into the Wellness Centre.
The chairs were initially installed as part of a six-week hire period, providing healthcare staff with access to short moments of recovery during their shifts, particularly during a time of transition and change.
The Wellness Hire team coordinated delivery and setup, working closely with the onsite team to ensure everything was installed smoothly and ready for use from day one.
Due to the strong engagement and positive response, the hire has continued beyond the initial period.
Supporting Staff, Patients and Families
While initially introduced for healthcare staff, the Wellness Centre initiative was designed with a broader purpose in mind.
The space will also be made available to patients and family members, offering them a moment of comfort and relief during what can often be incredibly difficult and emotional times.
Providing even a small opportunity to pause can make a meaningful difference for everyone within the hospital environment.
